  1. I value learning a lot. I think that the more you know, the more powerful you are. To be a good student, you have to be able to buckle down and do work, pay attention, and take pride in your work. I expect my classmates and I to pay attention and not disrupt the class, but participate and add to the class as well. I expect a good teacher to push us to make us learn, give us homework, but not a smothering amount of busy work. I also expect a good teacher to keep a firm hold on the class while not being too strict. To keep this class enjoyable and running smoothly, the class should stay on task and get things done, but be laid back. We should be comfortable in the class but also productive.

  3. My role as a learner is to actively search out knowledge. I agree with Jack that a learner needs to buckle down and do work because learning doesn't come instantly. I have a high value of learning and think that as long as you are open to new ideas the learning never stops. A good student enjoys learning. He puts effort and value into his work. Also, he respects his peers. I expect that as good students, both myself and my classmates will contribute to the discussions because I think that everyone has a different opinion to share. A good teacher will make learning enjoyable by putting enthusiasm into the day. I expect Mrs. Comp to help everyone in the class learn to love American Literature or at least find the value in it. In order for a productive, fun, learning environment to exist, the class needs to build a small community where people are comfortable sharing with one another and working off one another. If someone visited the class, it would look like everyone was participating and comfortable.

  5. As a student myself, I believe my role as a learner has to be open to new ideas and open to sharing my own ideas. I think you should be willing to hear and consider what other people think, but I also think that you should step up to the plate and have some ideas of your own. Learning should be greatly appreciated and valued because without it, we would all be the same people with all the same ideas. I think a good learner listens and responds with discernment. I would expect both myself and my classmates to be accepting of new ideas and ready to challenge them. I also appreciate what Rebekah said about respecting your peers. A good and quality teacher should be just as much of a learner as a teacher. I believe they need to be willing to help guide students, but also push them further out of their comfort zone. I would expect Mrs. Comp to help me be an independent writer who is always able to exceed my own skills. Finally, this class needs to appreciate us as a group of unique students who can all share and contribute unique ideas. To me, this would look like a group of students who know how to have fun while learning, and also learn from the mistakes that we will make along the way. Everyone should also be able to communicate their own ideas and feel appreciated for them.

  6. As a student, I feel that my responsibility as a student is to be open-minded about the curriculum and about the ideas presented in class. On top of that, I also feel it is my responsibility to share my beliefs when necessary and add to the conversation. This is because I value my learning highly and am willing to help add to the conversation as to pull in the knowledge of my peers and learn from them as well as the teacher. As school continues, I hope to continue valuing education and never take it as just a joke. To help with that, I expect the students of my classes to not back down when they share their thoughts or questions because hearing the perspectives of another is the best tool of learning. As for the teacher, I expect her to not give any bias toward one thought or another, but instead present us with challenges to our beliefs and mention every viewpoint she can think of, to give many beliefs to consider. In order for the class to have a fun and productive class, it needs to have some aspects I mentioned but also needs to be laid back enough to where we can think and have fun but not so much to where we start slacking.

  7. As a learner, my role is to add my thoughts, and to bring something different to class every day. An in class education is just as important as an “out of class education”. You’re going to learn something different by walking around Downtown Denver than you are in class, but what you learn in class, you can apply to hold a conversation, talk to people, meet people, and learn things. Education to me is very important. Maybe it’s because I want to impress my dad and get good grades, but if I were to look deeply into it, education is very important. I believe that in order to learn efficiently, you must first ask questions, participate, and do something worthwhile in class instead of sitting in your seat and letting everyone else do the work. This is an honors class, and I think it’s important for everyone to equally, or almost equally, participate. A “good student” isn’t the kid who sits in the back of that class and hopes s/he doesn’t get noticed. A “good student” pays attention, stays on top of class work, and engages in the class. A good teacher, I think, would understand that high school is a stressful time, between school work, extracurricular activities, and personal problems, and would be more than willing to help out with homework, understand where we’re coming from, and give that extra push just when we need it. Productive classes have teachers that make things fun, students that listen and involve themselves, and of course students that ultimately get along.

  8. As a learner, I think that my role is to be open to new ideas and always try my best. I need to be open to different teaching styles and forms of writing. It's also important that I always try my best because success will never happen if the effort isn't given. I value learning a lot because there is always some new way to expand my knowledge. To be perfectly honest though, I don't always have the best attitude towards learning. But for the most part I'm pretty excited about it. I think a good student is someone who knows how to contribute ideas but also is able to hear and accept what others have to say. During discussions, a good student would be actively participating while giving others the opportunity to talk as well. Also, a good student isn't afraid to ask questions and get help when needed. If questions aren't asked, then they may be unclear about the task assigned. I expect support from my classmates so that the classroom is a safe environment for people's opinions to be heard. I think a good teacher is someone who can keep the class engaged. It makes directions easier to listen to if the students aren't totally zoned out. I think it's also important that teachers are easily approachable. I believe that teachers should have relationships with their students, it makes the semester more enjoyable. In order for the class to have a good environment, I think that there needs to be time for working and time for laughing. Students will have a better attitude and be more willing to learn. Also, people need to be open to meeting new friends. A lot of the kids had English together last year and it would be awesome to get to know them better. But I guess that comes with time! In order to achieve success, we need to have open minds and be ready for anything Mrs. Comp throws our way.

  9. As a learner, my role is to take in information, and use the information to help me understand events and society. Learning is very important and it happens all the time. Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. Wherever you are, you are learning. A good student is one who wants to learn. If you don’t want to learn you are automatically handicapping yourself from learning. A good student is open to new ideas and actively participating in the classroom. A good teacher is someone who not only gives the class information, but works with the class to develop ideas. A good teacher will also be open to new ideas and can see things from many different view points. This class needs everyone participating. We all need to work together to come up with the answers and problem solve. We can learn from each other.

  10. Personally, I do not consider myself a learner. I pretty much go through the motions, but I never truly enjoy learning anything. Hopefully, this will change in the future. I would love to get up in the morning and look forward to school, but I don't. A good student would get up in the morning, and know, that school is vital, and to enjoy learning every day. They would try to get better everyday, even if they do not like the subject. A good quality teacher, for me, doesn't sugar coat anything. I have had teachers over the years that attempt to make things fun, and that does not help me. The only thing the "fun" teacher does is elongate the amount of time spent on the subject. I like to learn it, make sure I remember it, test it, then move on. This idea is shown much better with math teachers. Nobody like's math, even if the teacher attempts to make it fun. I don't see the point, I would rather hate it for thirty minutes, than be mildly amused for an hour. At least, that is my opinion. As I just described, I enjoy a fun classroom, but I do not see the point. School should not be fun, in my eyes. I think the best classroom would be a teacher who knows how to burn a subject into a students mind, and make them better overall. Students should pay attention, and if needed, be able to work productively with each other or alone if necessary. Now, these are just my opinions, and probably very different from others.

  11. Learning is the key to a connection beyond the microcosm bubble we live in, and to the rest of the world. My role as a learner isn’t to stop after the school day ends, I want to continue into being a life long learner even if what I’m learning isn’t coming from inside of a classroom. There’s so much out there, that accepting information without questioning, or without curiosity- is hurting you. I expect from myself that I always give something my best shot, and take pride in the work I produce. I think that a healthy work environment and commitment to learning takes mutual respect and acceptance from other students, although ideas about certain things may be different. I echo Rebekah’s thought in that students no matter what they think of something, should take an active part in discussions because of the difference in voice and opinion. This not only benefits the discussion- but other students learning. I expect for a good quality teacher to facilitate a well-run classroom that is quiet during work time, but actively seeking to engage every student during hands on activities. Also to create a curriculum in which we will be able to take the learned information into real world scenarios. Students should work to create a positive environment in which peers feel no pressure to voice their opinions, and willing to help if another student is struggling with a certain task. Students should not only work to complete the task, but try to take something away from it for themselves and enjoy the class.

  12. As a learner, my role is to express new ideas to the class through our disscussions, to take in the knowledge that is supplied to me in class, and to prepare myself for the future by being a good student. I value my learning, but I don't always enjoy it. While I care about what I learn, because I want to have a bright future and a good job, I don't always apply myslef to my work as much as I could. For me a good student is someone who respects others ideas, takes pride in his/her work and isn't afraid to share their ideas. My idea of a good teacher would be someone that can give us some slack when it come to big projects, such as giving us an extra day or two if we need it, can explain topics clearly, and can make the class fun and enjoyable. In order for a productive yet fun learning enviroment to exsist within our class, everyone needs to feel comfortable enough with one another that they can share new ideas and thoughts without having the fear of being shot down or embarrased.

  13. As a student, I should be an active participant in my education. By active, this means that I need to contribute to classroom discussions by not only answering direct questions posed by the teacher, but answers questions posed by my peers. This allows me to construct my own knowledge about my learning, and apply if to my education. I highly value my education and I'm usually eager to learn something new, but I do not always enjoy it. A good student is someone that is eager and/or willing to learn, even if the subjects are not interesting. Self-discipline is also important in a student. Discipline in managing the time is an important factor that every good student must possess. Procrastination is common in students, and often times separate the good students from the bad ones. My idea of a good teacher is someone that treats all of the students equally. That means that one or two students are not liked or treated better than the others. Also, a balance between fun and productivity is needed. Considering that the class is right before lunch, many of us may need some distractions from work to be able to operate well. Finally, students have to feel comfortable around the teacher. I expect for you to understand that many of us have other honors classes, and thus, a lot of homework. It can become quite stressful at times! In order for a class to have fun, but still be productive, the class has to be laid back. Everyone needs to feel comfortable and slightly 'free' in what they are allowed to do, but as Hunter said, not so much that we slack off.

  14. My role as a learner is to willingly accept all information that is given to me, apply it to my life, and, as Jen said, learn outside of the classroom as well. I value learning very much. I want to have a successful career and life, and that starts with a good education. A good student is someone who keeps an open mind to learning. With that, I expect myself and my classmates to listen to other people's opinions without judging, but rather with the mindset that his/her opinion could be very beneficial. I also think that students should have at least a little bit of a positive attitude toward learning. I don't always wake up early in the morning and get my coffee thinking, "Wow this is going to be a great day!" but it is still important to be optimistic at one time or another. Positive thinking goes a long way. I expect you as a teacher to make sure that students are comfortable walking in to the classroom, and that we are not dreading the hour. I think it is important for you to make sure that we see the value in American Literature, and that we can take the lessons we learn in class and use them in our everyday lives. It is also essential for you to know that we get stressed very easily with homework and after school activities, and we won't be at our very best everyday. As many students have already said, a productive learning environment should be one where students are comfortable and ready to learn, but laid back as well.

  15. My role as a learner is to try my best to prepare myself for the future. This is the time when I will learn things that will help me for the rest of my life. I value learning a lot, because I am aware of its importance in my future. I think that a good student is one that does not disrupt the class and others' learning. I expect my classmates and me to pay attention at all times, to not talk while the teacher is talking, and to do our best work all the time. Another thing a good student does is comes to class prepared. I expect of a good teacher to want to teach the students. If the teacher doesn't want to teach, then the students won't want to learn. I also expect a good teacher to engage the students, and not just talk at them, but talk to them and hear what they have to say. In order to have a productive class, we need to want to learn and to be excited. We also need to be respectful, of what others have to say, and to the teacher, which means not talking over them. We need to be serious at times, but also not so serious at other times, so that it is fun and productive.

  16. As a learner my role consists of questioning, completing my work, and participating in discussion. All of these enable me to understand new information and apply it to my life now and in the future. I value my learning a lot. Not only what I learn inside the classroom, but what I learn outside school as well. I know that the information I take in on a daily basis will help me with my job and family as I grow older.
To me an excellent student needs to have many good qualities. They must be disciplined to complete their work in class and at home every day. They also are open minded to new learning techniques and excellent students always do their work to their very best ability.
I would expect a few things from a quality teacher. For instance, they should be understanding of students. Not to say they need to believe every excuse... but they should be open minded to what goes on in a students life that might be out of their control. A quality teacher is also one that is patient when students are confused or do not know some of their things being discussed or expected to be completed. Finally a quality teacher should help students to be their very best by giving them feedback and pushing them to do better.
In order to have a productive, fun, learning environment, the most important thing students need to remember is to be respectful of one another. This can be demonstrated in many ways. In discussion, the students that dominate the conversation need to remember to be respectful and let some of the more quiet students speak. In a similar way during class students need to be quiet and respectful while someone is speaking to the class.

  17. I refer to myself as a lifelong learner, because there are countless every day valuable lessons and knowledge to be gained throughout your whole life and this makes the value of learning very important to me. My role as a learner is to be open and enthusiastic to all aspects of learning but also seeking new and different learning environments and skills. I expect from my classmates, as well as myself, to be active and help create a positive and intriguing learning environment, where everyone is contributing to the lesson and participating. All students should be helping create open learning environments, so everyone feels comfortable sharing their own thoughts and opinions with no judgment or disrespect from both sides. I expect from a good quality teacher is a variety of interesting and productive class lessons/assignments making all of us students and involved learns think and begin shaping our own active thoughts, and providing us with the tools we will need in life, not just school. And what a good class and learning environment needs, like what Colleen H. and Jeremy. said, everyone needs to feel comfortable to express themselves freely in an easy environment and free to ask questions and open discussions but not to much freedom when class become irrelevant and students begin to “slack off”.

  18. We go to school to demonstrate our natural abilities and our learning over the corse of the years but it's important to maintain a role as a learner. My role is to ask questions when needed, absorb different points of view, and apply them to other classes and life after school. I put being successful at the top of my list and therefore, learning is really valued and should be valued for everyone else in the class. Respect is of the utmost thing a "good" student could have and without it, trust is lost towards other students and towards the teacher. From one student to another, I expect that my classmates with be pumped for the class period, and get ready to lose all drama at the door and bring a positive learning space. This means that I also expect that the teacher will also be pumped and keep us on the edges of our seats. Another quality of a good teacher is to be understandable of students and their needs including questions they need to be answered, how committed they are after school, and their opinions they share in class. I think that if we all open up in class, participate in activities to the best of our ability, enjoy the fun days and push through the harder days that we might have in order to be the most productive that we can.

  19. Personally, I think that my role as a learner is to come to school everyday, eager to learn new things. Some students show up to class because their parents forced them to, and all they do is sit in class and count down the minutes till the end of class. A learner is responsible for their own actions. They come in to talk to the teacher when they get a low test score and try to do understand what they missed, instead of taking the grade and throwing it in the trash. Learning is one of those things you just can't replace. It's value is undefined. Every student makes of school and learning what they want to. If I come to class and ask questions about what we are doing, I'll probably get more value from it than someone who comes and sleeps the entire lesson. Education is what sets us up for success in our futures and prepares us to go on and do phenomenal things with our lives. As we move through the school year, I expect my fellow students and myself to make our learning environment as comfortable as possible, so that everyone can feel free to share their ideas with the class and talk about their thoughts on the activity. I also expect everyone to be considerate of each other's opinions. I know that it was a little of an issue last year, and I just want people to be able to give their opinion without feeling like they are being judged continuously. I hope that you, as the teacher, can allow us to speak our minds and give us that opportunity in our writing, too. I would really like it if you could be willing to help me in particular whenever I need the extra one-on-one attention. It might be about my writing, but I like when teachers are more like friends to students, so that I can feel free to come to you for really anything. In order to have a productive, fun, learning environment, especially in an honors class, people need to relax a little and have fun with the assignments, while still working on them efficiently. I noticed a lot last year, that kids were afraid to cut loose a little because they were too worried about their grade and getting 100% on everything. I think class is more enjoyable when kids aren't afraid to step outside their comfort zone and take the assignment to a new level.

  20. As a learner I have to be open to new ideas and willing to push myself in class to achieve the education I want to get out of whatever class I'm in. I have to search out knowledge and new perspectives as well as try to learn as much as I can from everything I experience in life. I have to prepare myself for whatever I may face in the future and learn as many life lessons as I can at this time. My learning is one of my main priorities, and I value anything that I can learn from my life and experiences. A good student is one who is attentive and involved. This is a person who is always looking for an opportunity to learn something new and who gets involved in his or her own learning in order to be as successful as possible in their educational career. I also agree with Rebekah that in order to be successful, students have to really enjoy learning, or they won't search out new ideas and experiences. I expect everyone to be open to new ideas and always accept other student’s opinions and beliefs, especially when it comes to class discussions where people are opening up and sharing their views on whatever is being discussed. I also expect a good teacher to be open to student's point of view and to be understanding of the fact that as high school students, we are very busy and we have many other responsibilities in addition to out school work. Although not all excuses are valid, I expect a good teacher to be accepting of the fact that sometimes we are faced with things that we can't control and that might make it difficult for us to complete something as asked. It is also important to make class a fun, interesting experience for both students and yourself. If the teacher is not enjoying it, it makes it harder for students to do so, and though it's not often an issue, it is something to consider. I think that a classroom needs to be comfortable and accepting, and everyone needs to work together to make the class productive by ensuring that we stay on topic if we go too far off it. Also, it needs to be a place where students are being pushed to achieve their maximum potential, and a place where if someone does poorly, that they are motivated to do better the next time and constantly be improving throughout the year. I agree with Gabriella that students need to respect each other, especially in class discussions where sometimes the quieter students don't get to speak much because others are dominating the conversation, everyone should feel like their opinion is valid and that it is worth sharing.

  21. I believe that my role as a learner is to attempt to absorb any new knowledge from any class, whether that be from the subject itself, or other life lessons as well. Learning is of great value to me, and I believe that you are what you learn, from your I.Q. to your moral qualities.
To be a good student, one must be willing to come to class with an open mind, regardless of what they have been told in or out of class. An appreciation for the importance of knowledge is also key, and gives a student a positive attitude. Finally, a good student must be able to recognize the value of a certain concept in their past, current, and future lives.
I expect a quality teacher to read his or her class, and then adjust their teaching method to what best suits those students. Also, it is the teacher's job to get the class excited about learning, but also accept it when a student simply cannot connect with a topic. I like when a teacher uses the concept of 'learning from one's mistakes' in the teaching method as well.
In order for our class to have a productive learning environment, I think we should have a chance to interact with our peers directly, whether that be through discussion or group activities. When we know each other, we are more likely to understand where our opinions and attitudes come from.

  22. My role as a learner is to fully prepare myself for the future. My learning takes top priority in my life. Its value is bigger than most things in my life. I expect my fellow classmates to work as hard as they can. I respect students who show that they're hard workers. Also, I hope that they will keep an open mind about all topics, including the more controversial ones. From my teacher, I hope to be able to talk openly with him/her about issues I may be having in class. An approachable teacher one quality I always look for. I also expect to be challenged by the teacher Otherwise, I wouldn't learn anything. In order to have a working/functional classroom, every student needs to always listen to the teacher, and each student needs to be willing to but in their best effort. Without this, I don't think that our classroom will be a very successful learning environment.

  23. As learner I am someone who gets up every day ready and trying to prepare myself better for the future and future situations that I might encounter. Learning helps me extend my knowledge of not only subjects that are taught in the class room but also problems or any situation I may run into in the real world. A good student is someone who is willing to learn. A good student will not show up to school every day because they have to because they want to and they know it will benefit them. I hope that my classmates all have that same mindset. A good teacher is someone who is ready to prepare students for the world. A good teacher doesn’t assign busy work just so they can help their students slide by; a good teacher is someone who must help us prepare for the future, not just the present. For this class to be productive and fun it must be based around content that matters not just, as I said before, busy work. That will make the class enjoyable and beneficial.

  24. I think that anyone can be classified as a "good student," it's just that the students that know how to do what the teachers ask, and continue to have an open mind are those that succeed more in school because they might value their learning more than others. Those students are attentive, responsible, and diligent in doing their work. I would hope that my classmates are willing to work hard, and be open-minded when it comes to the Socratic Seminars because some people like to share their ideas more than others. Also, I would hope that by the end of the class I would have learned more about writing and annotating literature. I would expect that my teacher would be fair, supportive in all ideas when it comes to analyzing literature because each student can see something different, and assigning fair amounts of homework. This class needs to be accepting and in return I believe that some of the students, including me, have to be brave and step outside of their comfort zone to share their ideas. In this class, I picture it as a productive and fun learning experience that I look forward to every school day.

  25. My role as a learner is to do more than just show up at school. Anyone can come sit in class for an hour, but I have to make the effort to participate and make the best of my education. Arapahoe provides so many learning opportunitites that I can use to grow academically and as a person. I have always valued learning because I know important it is. In the future I want to be able to look back at my high school career and know that I tried my best to prepare for a bright future. I would say that a good student is someone who is responsible and willing to put in a lot of hard work. There will always be tough assignments and units that not everyone will enjoy, but we do them for a reason and a good student should be able to put forth their best effort no matter what. I expect my classmates to be respectful of each other, where we can have interesting discussions without any yelling. I hope that everyone will try to do more than just pass the class. I know that everyone will be able to get a lot more out of the class if they do more than the bare minimum!
I think a good teacher is understanding and willing to work with students to overcome challenges. A good teacher should be critical and expect everyone to try their best, but to still be fair. In order for this class to be fun and productive, I think that we need to learn to be serious when it is necessary, but also to enjoy the class and everything that we learn from it.

  26. As a learner I believe it is my job to try. As silly as this sounds, there are many students who show up to class but they don’t participate at all or try to gain any new knowledge from their teacher. This brings me to what a good student must do. Students who want to take their knowledge to the next level must be able to participate in class. Even if that is just taking notes and really understanding them. This would be much better that a student who came to class just because they had to and just sit there and do nothing. A good student must also be prepared. They need to be ready to learn in class, but they also must be ready mentally, to take in new material and really try to understand. A productive classroom doesn’t just require good students, but a good teacher as well. A teacher that can be set apart from the rest must possess certain characteristics, like respecting students and their ideas. There are many classes where there are a few students who don’t want to ask small detailed questions because they think their teacher won’t be pleased that they are stuck on such a small problem. But a good teacher is ready to take that question and answer it like any other question. A good teacher must also push their students. A student cannot grow unless they are being pushed to beome better. A classroom must have a good environment. It is much easier for someone to learn in a relaxed environment and when they get along with their peers.

  27. My most important role as a learner is to thoroughly understand the world I live in. To understand how humanity became what is it today and where it is headed tomorrow is what learning is all about. A learner takes nothing for granted nor as a simple fact. A true learner will question everything to better understand the world. Because of this, I highly value learning. The more knowledge I have, the better I understand the world and its story. Understanding this is a powerful tool to bring change to the world. Obtaining an education is vital to success on this planet we live in. Understanding this help me realize that these few years of my life where learning is my full time occupation are crucial to my success later in life. I take this fact very seriously, as would any good student. A good student realizes the impact that education has on their life. I expect my classmates to share this vision, but not take it so seriously that they are incapable of fun and laughter. An enjoyable classroom makes learning easy, so the ability of this class to be able to laugh will aid in the entire group’s learning. A good teacher also is critical for a good learning environment. A good teacher will not simply lecture their class but use discussion to teach. A teacher that helps students understand why something is the way it is versus simply proclaiming something as fact, is priceless. I want to understand, not simply have knowledge. Hence a good teacher promotes understanding not knowledge. I think both a good teacher and good students are essential to a productive classroom. This class needs to take learning seriously, but not so seriously that it cannot laugh. Lively discussion where everyone participates is also necessary to a good learning environment. Everyone should share their honest convictions and opinions and they must be able to do so without the class laughing or making fun of their opinion. A class that can participate in honest and thought-provoking discussion is a very effective learning enviroment.

  28. My role as a learner is to take everything in, to listen, to observe. showing up and listening is one thing but striving to do more than just the average kid is another. my past teachers in the 12 years or so that i have been in school i have learned the harder you strive the higher you get in knowledge content. To continue with that point, a good student is someone who realizes and sees the potential in everything, sets a goal, and doesnt stop until they get there and possibly past. i expect nothing less than my classmates to do those things. I expect them all to want what i want for them, by having an amazing life experience and learning experience. i believe that life is a journey up a hill and around a mountain and you are the one that decides how rocky the path will be, how steep the mountain will be, and also what tools you will have to assist you on the journey up there. This class will be one of those tools. i expect you as of all teachers to be good listeners, good motivaters, and good insperation for our learning/writing. connections are huge with me when it comes to teachers. if i feel that there is no connection i go about my buiness and find another source of motivation. This class is going to mean different things to each student. to me it is an amazing chance to show off my skills for creativity and as a writer. not many classes if any give me a chance to express myself in any way and i know that this class will end up being my chance. writing is fun and productive for me if it isnt 100% about literature. If it involves some individuall writing it will end up being my favorite class.

  29. The role I have is a very important one; the role and want to absorb everything of value that is taught to me. This role is so important because of how crucial the things I learn now will be in my future. I think a lot of people in my generation forget that one day we will be running the country, therefore the more we know, the better America will be. This is the main reason why I value my learning so much. I truly think you can experience life in a class room. Reading incredible novels or even knowing the difference between a simile and a metaphor will pay off in the future. A good student understands that truly the only reason we come to school everyday is to learn. A good student knows that its more than a social event or a place to wear your brand new jeans, they know that they come here to learn new things every single day. I expect of my classmates and even of myself, to remind ourselves of that fact sometimes. And remember that even though sometimes we may wish to be outside talking to our friends, we should be prepared, even excited to learn everyday. A quality teacher would teach us things of value, things we will need to know out in the real world. Whether it be the life lessons of books or how to properly write a letter, a good teacher would focus on the things that will matter when we leave her class, and that is exactly what I expect of Mrs. Comp as a teacher. This class only needs a few things in order to be fun, yet productive. Those being; great books that will be entertaining to read, students willing to learn but also relax and have fun, and lastly a teacher who creates a fun and open environment that makes a class exciting to look forward to.
